| I have been a volunteer
at the Sexual Assault Centre for 2 years now. It has been probably
one of the most rewarding volunteer jobs I have ever had. |
| The main focus
I have at the Centre is volunteering on the Crisis Line. After completing
a call, and assisting a fellow female in need, I have a feeling
of great satisfaction. |
| The Centre offers
the Crisis line workers monthly meetings, so workers can show each
other support and assistance with the crisis calls. |
| The Centre also
has information nights and special workshops, which is a wonderful
way to meet all the new people within the Centre as well as see
the other ones you've known from the past. |
| All in all, the
experience has been one I will never regret. I would encourage anyone
who has time to come and get involved! |

My name is Corina, my hair
is curly, I pour a good black and tan and make a mean breakfast.
|
| I have been volunteering
at KSAC for a good couple of years. I've carried the Crisis-line
beeper and sat on the Board of Directors, for which I am a richer
and smarter and a more skilled person than I was before. |
| I am no less angry
at the sick world we live in, but I have been lucky to meet some
very cool women. KSAC staff members are amazing, the volunteers
are incredible; the work we do is important and together we do good
work! |

| I am a Trent Student,
majoring in Psychology and Women's Studies, and have been an Active
Volunteer at the Centre for over a year. |
| My goal is to eventually
have my own practice, specializing in counselling women. Theory
has its place in the learning process, and I've gained a lot of
important information through school. |
| But my work with
the crisis line and other aspects of the Centre has taught me invaluable
knowledge through real experience. |
| The women who staff
the Centre full time have contributed to this greatly and are always
open and welcoming. I know I'll look back on my work here as an
indispensable stepping-stone to my final career goals. |
