INFORMATION FOR WOMEN WANTING TO VOLUNTEER
 

The Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre recruits volunteers on an ongoing basis. A mandatory 33-hour Crisis Intervention Training is offered 3 times a year for all volunteers working within front line services. Volunteers at KSAC must be self-identified women 18 years of age or older and live within the 4 counties serviced by KSAC. The KSAC Volunteer Team is made up of a diverse group of women who give their time and skills to provide support, information and public awareness to clients and community members.

 
Volunteers can be involved in many different areas at KSAC...
 
Crisis Intervention Volunteer
Crisis Intervention Volunteers provide support, information, referrals and crisis intervention through a peer counselling model to recent or past victims of sexual assault on the 24-Hour Crisis Line. Crisis Intervention Volunteers are dedicated front line workers who utilize their skills and knowledge to provide support and encourage self-empowerment to women.
 
Crisis Line Team Leader
Crisis Line Team Leaders provide 24-hour support, information and supervision to Crisis Intervention Volunteers answering the Crisis Line. Team Leaders are volunteers who have a wide range of front line experience and leadership qualities.
 
Sexual Assault Accompaniment Volunteer
Sexual Assault Accompaniment Volunteers provide emotional and practical support through a peer counselling model to victims of sexual assault and/or their family and friends at the hospital. This team of volunteers have extensive front line experience and are empathetic to the trauma sexual assault victims endure.
 
Administration Support Worker
Administrative Support Workers provide administrative assistance within the business office, as well as, information and support to clients. This team of volunteers have a wide range of administrative skills. Their friendly smiles and warm personalities are a warm welcome for clients and visitors at KSAC.
 
Board of Directors
KSAC works with a volunteer Board of Directors made up of a dynamic group of women from diverse backgrounds. The primary responsibility of the Board of Directors is to ensure effective and efficient functioning of the organization. This team brings a wide range of knowledge and experience to KSAC.
 
Fundraising & Special Event Volunteer
Fundraising and Special Events volunteers are involved with various fundraising and special events held within the community. This team of volunteers is made of up of community members that share their cooperative and fun loving spirit to assist with raising funds and public awareness. Fundraising and Special Events volunteers are not required to attend the 33-Hour Crisis Intervention Training. Volunteer opportunities are available weekly or yearly!
